Our Mission

The mission of Sibling Strong is to reunite brothers and sisters with Washington ties, who are separated because of foster care, kinship care and through adoption for summer camp and day events that reinforce sibling connection, encourage social development, restore hope, and reduce feelings of isolation.

Brothers and sisters typically experience the longest and some of the strongest life relationships. Being separated increases the trauma of being associated with foster care. Visits between siblings help to encourage healing, promote growth and restore a sense of normalcy. This is why Sibling Strong believes it is vital to keep siblings connected when they are separated by placements in foster care, relative care or adoption.

Since 2009, We have created opportunities for brothers and sisters to laugh, cry, begin healing and create positive new memories together that will last a lifetime.

Upcoming Events

As a former youth in care, I was separated from one of my sisters for years. At the time I had essentially “written off” ever seeing her again, and that left a terrible hole in me. Years later that same sister entered the foster system, and the state of Nebraska amazingly found a family that was not only able to take in 3 foster siblings,  but they found a family that would take 3 teenagers. The reunification was something that I had only dreamed would happen. Sibling strong has allowed me to help bring siblings back together, throughout the year, so that others may not have the hole in them.”
